HISTORY AND THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS OF THE THERMAL WATERS

The curative properties of the sulphurous waters of Tabiano were already known in the XVI century: the local inhabitants used it to cure skin and parasitary diseases which affected cattle. Marie Louise, duchess of Parma, widow of Napoleon I, was greatly interested and charged a medical commission to analize and closely examine the properties of the waters and classifie the pathologies that could be treated.

The first thermal establishment rose in 1841, financed by nobles and wealthy citizens led by the Duchess. Since then, numerous research projects in collaboration with italian universities have confirmed their therapeutic effects, principally in case of illnesses of the respiratory ways , othorhinolaryngological forms, skin diseases; a modern wellness centre completes the range of the thermal treatments.
